Glock-43_G43_single_stack_9_F1Glock has officially announced their first 9mm pistol with a single stack magazine: the Glock 43.

“The G43 is the most exciting product release to date because it addresses a variety of issues that many shooters face with pistols in the concealed carry category,” stated GLOCK, Inc., VP Josh Dorsey. “It will be the pistol of choice for law enforcement and civilians. The G43 sets a new standard for concealed carry pistols.”

In traditional Glock fashion, the semiauto G43 sports a polymer frame that fits into their “slimline” series of handguns alongside the G42 and the G36. Dimensions of the new 9mm are just slightly larger than the G42, with the Glock 43’s slide width measuring 0.87? and its frame width measuring 1.02?. To see its complete dimensions, enlarge the G43’s technical data (pictured on the right).

The Glock 43 has a 6-round magazine that fits flush into its grip, which has a flat front strap with no finger grooves. Unique to its single stack design, G43 magazines are not compatible with existing magazines designed for the Glock 17, 19, 26 or 34. However, we expect to see the future release of factory magazines with extended grips for ergonomic finger placement.

Equipped with Glock’s familiar “Safe Action” trigger system, the G43 has an integrated trigger safety, firing pin safety and drop safety. It also uses a similar takedown method we’re accustomed to in all other Glock pistol configurations.

The G43 will debut at the 2015 NRA Annual Meeting on April 10 in Nashville, Tenn., with shipments expected immediately after the event. One of the most highly anticipated firearm introductions to date, the Glock 43 will come to market for $589 MSRP.

Stay tuned for a full review of the Glock 43 in an upcoming issue of Shooting Times, but for now check out more photos of Glock’s new single stack 9mm:
